NETWORX
participated in managing, implementing, troubleshooting and operating the
roll out of a 2,000 router public frame relay network in twelve months.
This project encompassed the configuration of IBM 2210 routers for U.S.
and European frame relay connections. NETWORX
participated in the coordination of the frame relay carriers, Sprint, in
the U.S. and GlobalOne in Europe, with installation and implementation
of the router network. The frame relay routed network utilizes OSPF, DLSw, IP, IPX and
SNA/APPN.
Case
Study: Major Wall Street Brokerage
NETWORX was asked to provide network recovery planning services for this major
brokerage. The brokerage was currently using AT&T Accunet Bandwidth
Manager (ABM) for wide area network recovery to their business recovery
provider. The brokerage boasts one of the largest private frame relay
networks comprised of 72 T1 lines, 20 IDNX multiplexers and over 400 Cisco
routers. The network communications personnel at the brokerage had
in place a new network recovery design utilizing ISDN PRI services to the
business recovery provider. NETWORX
performed an extensive analysis of the two current network recovery scenarios
for the brokerage. In the final analysis it was shown that the ABM
scenario cost the company approximately $1.4M/Yr. and the ISDN scenario
approximately $1.6M/Yr. After extensive research and analysis NETWORX
consultants proposed a new wide area network recovery design that simplified
the operational procedures involved, fortified the production network with
alternate routing and positioned their main hub sites for ATM services
in the near future at a savings of $772,000 per year in networking costs
over their previous design plans.
Case Study: World Leader in Cancer
Care
This world class institution asked NETWORX
to assist in network
maintenance and upgrades to their existing ATM and router based networking
infrastructure. NETWORX is providing project management and technical assistance in upgrading the
router infrastructure along with installing ISDN backup to their branch
locations. Along with this NETWORX
is providing technical expertise in connecting the mainframe to the ATM/router
based IP network through Cisco channel attached routers. In concert
with this NETWORX was given the
responsibility of managing the requirements, installation and implementation
of an OC-48 SONET ring to support the institutions current and future imaging
and client/server applications.
